Louisa Makepeace was married to Samuel John Edmonds. They were married in 1853, at Wesleyan Chapel Auckland New Zealand.

Samuel was the son of John Edmonds and Mary Ann Strickland.

Samuel was a well to do merchant. He was involved in the publication of the first newspaper in New Zealand, he was part owner of several small ships and also involved in the Kauri gum trade.

Both he and Louisa are buried at Symonds Street Cemetery Auckland NZ.

Louisa Makepeace's sister Sarah was married to Samuels brother Alfred Strickland Edmonds.

Alfred was a gum digger and trader. He died 1898 Tairua Coramandel.
